Insulation cooling systems 3D cable leak detecion

It is well known that, over time, small amounts of condensate can accumulate within the insulation layer of district cooling systems. By using insulated 3D cables, however, the system can continue to operate even if moisture or condensate builds up in the insulation

The 3D cable consists of three conductors—each made of 0.75 mm diameter copper wire (stranded rather than solid)—embedded within a single cable. This configuration is ensured through the establishment of new reference curves that account for inherent moisture. The central wire (marked in black) serves as the reference conductor, replacing the need for a steel service conduit. The 3D cable is suitable for both metallic and non-metallic piping systems, allowing for system assessment via impedancemeasurement. The cable is fully insulated, including at connection points.
Testing Principle: Measure the impedance between the two outermost alarm wires (marked in red) and the black reference conductor.
