Pipeline Displacement and Collision Check

Publish Time: Author: Site Editor Visit: 37

During the transportation of low‑temperature media in pipelines, metallic pipelines undergo stress deformation under combined effects of temperature variation, pressure loads and other operating conditions, manifested visually as pipeline bending or contraction deformation. As pipelines deform, surrounding conditions shall satisfy displacement‑space requirements in pipeline design:

  1. Clearances between adjacent pipelines shall accommodate the thermal‑insulation thickness of pipelines and the thickness of expansion joint field joints to meet spatial requirements.
  2. The designed width of pipe rack foundations shall allow radial or axial displacement of pipeline supports and hangers to prevent their detachment.
  3. Structures of pipe rack foundations and other auxiliary installed components shall provide sufficient space for pipeline deformation, so as to avoid damage to pipeline thermal‑insulation materials or the pipelines themselves due to direct collision.
  4. For collision detection between pipe rack foundations and pipelines, overall inspection shall be performed with pipeline thermal‑insulation thickness and field‑joint thickness included.
  5. For collision detection between pipe rack foundations and pipelines, overall collision inspection shall incorporate the maximum local displacement‑deformation value of pipelines.
